Surgical Evaluation & Planning

Before surgery is recommended, patients undergo a comprehensive evaluation that may include:

  • Physical examination

  • Imaging review (X-ray, MRI, CT)

  • Discussion of non-surgical options

  • Review of risks and benefits

  • Pre-operative clearance when needed

Before Your Surgery

Patients are typically instructed:

  • Do not eat or drink after midnight the night before surgery

  • Follow medication instructions from your provider

  • Stop blood thinners 3-7 days prior to surgery with primary care physician (PCP) consent

  • Complete required medical or cardiac clearance

  • Complete pre-operative testing if ordered

Day of Surgery

On the day of your procedure, you will:

  • Check in at the hospital or surgery center

  • Meet your surgical team

  • Review anesthesia and procedure plan

  • Undergo your scheduled orthopedic surgery

Most outpatient procedures allow patients to return home the same day.

Recovery Process

First Post-Operative Visit (Approx. 10 Days)

  • Incision check

  • Suture or staple removal

  • X-rays if needed

  • Review of healing progress

Physical Therapy

  • Typically begins shortly after surgery

  • Usually 2–3 times per week

  • Often continues for around 6–8 weeks
